why i killed my own resume-writing business.

the status block, the pivot, and what actually changed.

four years, 600+ clients, 80k followers on the instagram page — and i still didn't want my name anywhere near it. that's not a business problem. that's a positioning problem.

the assets never changed. the narrator did. resumeguru became resumeguru.ai: a career graph, per-user rag, a no-hallucination guarantee. same client base, same four years — but now the sentence is "a builder scaling an ai product," not "a resume writer."

the lesson generalizes: work attached only to a company isn't yours. sell it or shut it down and the reputation leaves with it. work attached to the person compounds — permanently.
